In the age of six she took home a prize in a surf contest with a used board that she found in a trash can outside of her home. At the age of 5, she was able to start surfing. She won her very first event at the age of six. When she was 7 she had received a sponsorship. Her birthplace was in San Clemente California but later made the move to Hawaii.
